Can you believe that we’re already halfway through the year? We’ve not even had E3 yet and I’m already exhausted by the amount of game releases, news and system launches that have happened this year. My bank account is also a little tired of it too.

June doesn’t offer us any breathing space, I’m afraid, as there are tons of great releases lined up for PlayStation 4 owners. Lucky for you, our dear reader, we’ve gone and whittled down the list into what we think are the five biggest games to be launching in June.

Tekken 7

Tekken 7

If you’re lucky enough to live in a city that actually still has an arcade in it then you might have been playing Tekken 7 for quite some time now. The original arcade release of Tekken 7 happened way back in 2015. During that time it’s had plenty of tweaks and balances applied, with new characters being added too.

It’s this nicely polished version of Tekken 7 (subtitled ‘Fated Retribution’) that PS4 owners will be getting next month. After the poor reception of Street Fighter V, maybe it’s Tekken’s chance to steal the show?

Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy

You wait for over a decade to get a new Crash Bandicoot game and suddenly you get three at once! Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy takes the 3 original Crash Bandicoot games that were popular on the original Playstation and gives them a whole new coat of polygonal paint.

There’s not a whole lot to say other than this looks like a faithful remake of the originals, with gameplay footage making it look like it plays an awful lot like the PS1 classics. There’s no mention of new modes being added or any crazy extras. It’s just a solid remake of the Crash Bandicoot games you loved. What more do you want?

*A quick aside – Wipeout: The Omega Collection is also out in June. If you’re really looking to relive those Playstation glory days, PS4 has got you covered the next month!

DiRT 4

I’m not normally a fan of racing games but I always enjoyed the purity of a good rally game. The way that the cars felt like they could spin out of control any second thanks to the tough terrain you’re driving on made them a lot more engaging to me.

The king of rally games is back in June with DiRT 4. To start with the obvious facts, it looks gorgeous and it plays incredibly well thanks to Codemasters (the developers) being old hands at making outstanding rally games. DiRT 4 looks to continue the trend of ‘outstanding rally game’ next month.

Final Fantasy XIV: Stormblood

FF XIV Stormblood

It’s the year 2017 and there’s an MMO that charges a subscription fee, that isn’t called World of Warcraft and is actually very good. It’s called Final Fantasy XIV and it’s got a new expansion launching in June.

This makes it onto the list because the sheer amount of content that looks to be coming FFXIV’s way is astonishing. Along with loads of new quests and classes, there’s going to be a whole new area to explore. As well as new areas to explore you’ll have a new way to explore them, with the ability to swim being patched into the game. As well as the expansion itself, you can bet that Square Enix will continue to support the game like they’ve done for so many years, so you’ll see plenty of bang for your buck over the next 12 months.

Elite Dangerous

elite dangerous

It’s been out on the PC for some time but Elite Dangerous launches (like a space rocket, you see?) onto the PS4 next month and I can’t wait. With a whole host of ways to play, you can explore the galaxy, set up trading routes or simply shoot down everyone you come across.

You’re obviously not alone in Elite’s enormous galaxy. Online play means you’ll be bumping into other players and how you interact with them is down to you. Playing as an aggressive group of bandits sounds fun but there is an appeal to building up a financial empire through hard work and plenty of resource gathering. I’ll see what mood I’m in when I boot up Elite Dangerous next month.

So what do you make of next month’s offerings? Some real quality titles to look forward to next month. Let me know if you think I’ve missed something.
